Production:

Mick and Del Hearnden's Eden Valley Riesling Picked 27th of February 2020

Colour:

Very Bright light gold straw with hints of pale lime green.

Nose:

Intense ripe limes underlaid with a rich bready yeasty complexity

Palate:

Bold rich structure of ripe lemon/lime curd with a dollop of sorbet. Firm and balanced acidity with a pleasing phenolic line over a full and delicious mid palate. Long on flavour rich and supple in the mouth. An excellent argument for gentle aging , guaranteed to be a complex and rewarding drink!

Philosophy:

The 2020 Eden Edge is my Citrusy Bath-bomb Explosion in a Glass! This crisp delicious wine brings together the intensity Eden Valley Riesling (allowed to gather phenolic ripeness) brings to the table against the natural magnesium / calcium salts character inherent in these high sandy granite under-laid ridges. Tough old Riesling vines grown by Mick and Del Hearnden on their Eden Valley block is the foundation of the 2020 Eden Edge. Their Block is located on the Eastern Ridge of Mt Mackenzie. Their fruit is defined by its incisive structure chock full of juicy limes and citrus up front with this pleasing underlay of mineral salts creating a mouth watering contrast and depth of flavour. The Eden Valley Ranges capture and funnel cool moist air through the vineyards in the night while the days gather the warmth of late summer / early Autumn sunshine. Mix these elements together and shake them up and you have the essential ingredients for developing the delicious flavours that drive the Eden Edge. The 2020 Eden Edge was crafted with minimal intervention from fruit chock full of 'Crispy Deliciousness'. Basket pressing was followed by long cool slow co-fermentation on full solids at low temperature. This wine spent around 5 months on lees before being racked in August and bottled in Mid November 2020
